Manchester City player ratings vs Liverpool – Premier League

GK: Claudio Bravo – 6

Decent distribution early eased nerves, but nothing to do about Fabinho hit.

Good saves to deny Roberto Firmino and Salah late in first half.

RB: Kyle Walker – 5

Bright start and got forward but too many mistakes in possession further up the field.

CB: John Stones – 5

Generally solid display, but missed with an early header glancing wide.

Good last ditch intervention to deny James Milner.

CB: Fernandinho – 6

Brilliant recovering tackle to dispossess Salah on 40 minutes and generally defensively sound.

LB: Angelino – 4

Went close after one-two with De Bruyne on the half hour and was an increasingly assured force going forward but slow to react to Jordan Henderson’s run for third and failed to keep a handle on Salah.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 5

Poor clearance straight to Fabinho for opener and struggled to grab hold of the game offensively.

CM: Rodri – 5

Returning from hamstring injury but was a forceable presence in the middle.

Got through a lot of mundane work.

RAM: Bernardo Silva – 7

Lively early on, generally faded but took his goal well from 15 yards out to give City some hope.

CAM Kevin de Bruyne – 6

Given licence to influence the game at head of midfield put several on a plate for Aguero but found himself overrun when City did not have the ball.

LAM: Raheem Sterling – 7

Jeered throughout. Showed some decent touches but seemed rattled by the stage again and missed his usual cutting edge.

ST: Sergio Aguero – 4

Pulled best chance just wide just before half-time but missed an even better one six yards out in second.

Not his best night and was subbed early.

SUB: Gabriel Jesus (on for Aguero, 71 mins) – 4

Straight into the thick of the action but squandered several good opportunities.
