The Scottish First Minister was asked by ITV Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford whether she still stood by her idea that Boris Johnson “talks a lot of nonsense with a lot of conviction”. Nicola Sturgeon appeared embarrassed at first but then admitted she still thought the Prime Minister talks “nonsense”. She said: “Boris and I are not very alike.
“It’s not just men, I don’t want it to sound like I’m having a go at men all the time, Boris just talks nonsense, but he has that swagger and confidence and conviction.
“Despite the swagger, it’s still nonsense.”
The Scottish First Minister was then confronted by panellist Carol McGiffin who pointed out that Boris Johnson may think exactly the same of her but refrains from saying it because he is a “gentleman”.
Ms Sturgeon replied: “I’m sure he does [think I speak nonsense, too].
“Boris is a gentleman, is he?”
As she was shown a clip of the Prime Minister’s arrival to her office in Scotland waiting for her to get through the door before her, Ms Sturgeon said: “I think he was trying to do that kind of patronising thing.
“We were on the doorstep, all I was conscious of was 30 or 40 people coming up behind.
“He had this massive entourage, I don’t know who they all were.”
On Brexit, the First Minister said she felt it was unfair Scotland had to leave the European Union when the majority of the country voted to remain.
