Four homicide victims were found at the home on Charles Brown Road. A fifth victim has also been found deceased at a home on Luby Brown Road. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation believes the two scenes are related.
A suspect has been named and was believed to be armed and in the woods near the scene.
The suspect is now in custody following a county-wide manhunt.
The Sheriff of Sumner County in Tennessee Sonny Weatherford said “several bodies” were found in the 1100 block on Charles Brown Road.
The Westmoreland Police Department had warned residents to be on the lookout for a white male suspect possibly driving a black Kia.
Charles Brown Road is located around 15 miles east of Robertson County, 10 miles east of Portland.
Reports suggest the sheriff has confirmed that more information will be released once it becomes available.
Citizens were told to lock their doors and be on alert.
A witness at the scene said: “I’ve seen search dogs, police helicopters, armoured vehicles and officers in tactical gear.
“Police say the search is still ongoing.”
Earlier on Saturday, a Bedford County inmate escaped custody in a Sumner County correction officer’s vehicle.
The inmate managed to take control of the officer’s car and flee when they arrived at Bedford County jail.
The two crimes are not believed to be related.
